I'm consistently hitting this bug on kernel upgrades, among other things, on Ubuntu 17.10.
I'm working around it by manually killing the hung "plymouth --ping" process, which seems to make dpkg proceed successfully. ** Attachment added: "Output of "strace plymouth --ping" in gnome-terminal" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1705345/+attachment/5063361/+files/strace-plymouth-ping-output.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1705345 Title: Installing new kernel hangs on plymouth --ping To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1705345/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
