On the _other_ hand, Chris, Basilio, and Ubuntu just made my week (no, make that month) - The instructions worked better than any expectations! I've tried to get 5.1 sound via S/PDIF (aka IEC958) on at least five *nixes (Mandrake, SUSE, SLC, Fedora, and FreeBSD), and on Ubuntu Gutsy it now works for the first time ever! I've literally worked weeks on this during the last few years, without success. On the latest hardware optical 5.1 sound doesn't even work properly with the manufacturer's Windows drivers.
Please please please make this kind of configuration automatic in Ubuntu soon. And thank you very much! -- [gutsy]Sound card not detected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/135843 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
