As part of the changes made by the Debian maintainer in 2.1.14, I also see the
addition of bash as a build dep, and a change of the shebang in all scripts to
#!/bin/bash.
I therefore believe that ALL ubuntu changes can be dropped and this becomes a
simple sync.
Can you please check it by building and installing, and eventually resubmit a
sync request?
