tuharsky: I am glad the workaround is working for you. It was discussed
that this may be a bug 38203 (or a variant). Do you have the nvram
group in /etc/group? What does 'getent group nvram' return on and off
the network?
Note: the nvram bug should be fixed, but it could still be another group
or user, in which case will have to pinpoint it.
