Hi, /current/ is a symlink to the latest build number of d-i. However,
just stating that /current/ was used, is not useful, to debug/reproduce
the issue. Could you please state the d-i build in use? E.g. by either
downloading and using the /20..../ serial based urls, and-or unpacking
your d-i and inspecting /var/lib/dpkg/status file to see the Version:
header under "Package: debian-installer" stanza. Full installer logs
would be appreciated as well. E.g. /var/log/syslog from the d-i
environment.

At the moment, I do not see any kernel and/or libc missmatches in bionic
release pocket, assuming one is not installing using apt-
setup/proposed=true and assuming one is using 20101020ubuntu533 serial
from http://ports.ubuntu.com/dists/bionic/main/installer-
ppc64el/20101020ubuntu533/ and one is pointing the install at the up-to-
date mirror which has all the latest bionic packages.

What mirror are you using to fetch udebs? and did you get the installer
from the same mirror you use for the installation?

** Changed in: debian-installer (Ubuntu)
       Status: Fix Released => Incomplete
