Public bug reported:
ubuntu 17.10 - synaptic gui won't load. Read some forum posts about
wayland not allowing gui elevated but meanwhile, Softare Center gui
loads and installs software. Why can't Synaptic? Software Center is for
soccer moms and doesn't even show a lot of software, virtualbox for
instance.
