Public bug reported: Getting the same issue with sudo update-manager -d
At first I had the message that "Could not calculate the upgrade" with a list of the custom kernel I had installed (from PPA kernel repo). I uninstalled those and it was still failing. Uninstalling again, this time with "Mark for complete removal" checked. And the error is still there, however, there's no mention on where the failure is occurring, nor which package is causing the problem. At this stage, this is now a stock 17.10 install, with no custom PPA setup, nor any 3rd party packages (I removed them all) Still can't upgrade. log: $ do-release-upgrade -d Checking for a new Ubuntu release Get:1 Upgrade tool signature [819 B] Get:2 Upgrade tool [1 251 kB] Fetched 1 252 kB in 0s (0 B/s) authenticate 'bionic.tar.gz' against 'bionic.tar.gz.gpg' extracting 'bionic.tar.gz' Reading cache Checking package manager Reading package lists...
