Pause the music and then close. It will close. Ctrl+w also works. You
forget not everyone using gnome-shell, so the dock is not available for
everyone. Even default-shell doesn't use any dock.

It is widely accepted behavior in Unity, Xubuntu and Budgie and even in
KDE when using indicator-sound. It simply minimize to tray/dock hiding
it's main window. There are other software which does that (gnome-
calendar, gnome-software etc.)
