Public bug reported:

Package "system-config-lvm" is not compatible with Wayland so was in some
strange logic removed from the repositories in 17.10. This, even though we
could switch back to Xorg, which we did anyway since Wayland is far from
production ready.

Luckily with 18.04LTS Xorg will be default, meaning we can use system-
config-lvm again.

Please re-add it to the Ubuntu Repositories for 18.04LTS and include it
in the LiveISO (USB, CD).

It's really the only GUI utility to configure LVM's properly. Since
Ubuntu's default LVM creation in Ubiquity does not allow you to specify
a volume group name and separate the root from home logical partitions.

Using a GUI to configure LVM is much better than using the command line
as one can better visualize the results of ones actions.

Thanks!
