Public bug reported: Hello,
As mentioned in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=826104#10 the monthly cronjob to fetch new OUI data from standards.ieee.org was removed. While this resolves the denial of service attack on the IEEE website, the solution of no longer updating the files means over time they become outdated (unless the package is re-installed or /usr/bin/update-ieee-data is run manually). This could be solved by placing the ieee-data cronjob in /etc/cron.d with a random day and time of the month, or by pushing a package update whenever the IEEE website contains new data. Kind regards, Martin ** Affects: ieee-data (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1760404 Title: ieee-data no longer updates OUI data To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ieee-data/+bug/1760404/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
