TL;DR is that I say yes to your "but i must say mariadb V10.2 still clashes
with other installations and system libraries like it clashed in prior versions
for libmysqlclient.so".
I usually was aware of mysql/mariadb having issues, but mariadb-vs-postgres was
new to me.
Thanks for documenting your case so that users affected by a similar
case can find it!
I subscribed rbasak if there is anything he might want to share about
the long term plan how good (or not) those databases will go together
(he is usually looking for mysql).
