A fix is in bionic proposed as of 12 hours ago:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/4.15.0-15.16
Although I suspect the changelog text is wrong there. I've now
deduplicated a bunch of bug reports from various different DKMS drivers
to point to this one.
** Summary changed:
- fwts-efi-runtime-dkms 18.03.00-0ubuntu1: fwts-efi-runtime-dkms kernel module
failed to build
+ DKMS driver builds fail with: Cannot use CONFIG_STACK_VALIDATION=y, please
install libelf-dev, libelf-devel or elfutils-libelf-devel
** Changed in: fwts (Ubuntu)
Status: Confirmed => Invalid
