I have this problem as well, but it's not always reproducible... In some cases the same file can be opened without problems and on other tries this "internal error" comes up. It seems like it partially depends on whether there is already a gedit instance running.
Also in some cases there's this error in .xsession-errors: ** (gedit:8068): WARNING **: Hit unhandled case 3 (Interner Fehler) in gedit_io_loading_error_message_area_new. As this error message doesn't seem to appear every time when Gedit displays the "internal error" I suspect there are several errors that are all displayed the same. Tested this with a Gutsy LiveCD and a quite recently installed Gutsy as clients; and with a Debian Testing and the installed Gutsy as servers. Also tried with text files from ext3 and from vfat partitions (on the Debian machine). I have not seen any definitive pattern so far, but I think on the faster machine (with LiveCD) it seems to work nearly always, while on the slower machine (with Gutsy installed) it fails quite reliably when no gedit instance is running. -- gedit unable to open files on samba shares (7.04 Beta) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95414 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
