I have a tabletpc toshiba satellite R15-S829 with this problem too. my wacom tablet is recognised on the serial port, so maybe not related to usb suspend kernel stuff. I really don't know much on this subject, I only know that in feisty it was working for me without problems and I used the tablet weekly.
