Hi.
I recently installed Edgy on my Laptop and found out that the error i had in
breezy and dapper (don't know warty and hoary) encounters the following error
with edgy: "[17179572.660000] ..MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to
IO-APIC".
Since it was possible to boot with breezy and dapper ("was possible" means:
worked, but very, very (!) slow) edgy does not even try to start. FAN works all
time but nothing happens except the error message vanishes and leaves a black
screen. I remember that Dapper Flight 7 had no Problems with booting without
special parameters but Dapper Final had. It has to do with the Kernel-Version.
If i start Ubuntu with "noapic nolapic" everything works fine. Maybe it is
possible to autodetect the notebook and to hand over these parameters to grub?
