Public bug reported: Hi,
the release notes for 18.04 at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BionicBeaver/ReleaseNotes say: "For new installs, a swap file will be used by default instead of a swap partition." I've used the default desktop image to freshly install a machine with 18.04 yesterday. When selecting the disk encryption, the installer enforces LVM and puts an LVM into the encrypted volume to have separate partitions for swap and the root file system (thus wasting disk space). (I then reinstalled the system with a Lubuntu alternate installation, which was able to install encrypted without LVM and separate swap partition, it automatically generates a swap file. ) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767612 Title: 18.04 installation process differs from release notes (swap space) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1767612/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
