Hi again! I have just reverted to kernel 2.6.20-15-generic (feisty) and this fixes the problem for me. During CPU intensive tasks (~100% CPU load) the CPU temperature peaks at 75°C but the system will not shut down. It seems that something got messed up (possibly in ACPI) between 2.6.20-15-generic and 2.6.22-14-generic. Suspend/resume does work again as before, so for now I will stick with 2.6.20-15-generic. Unfortunately this does not help users who experienced this behaviour already in feisty...
