Hi Oliver - I uninstalled Chromium and reinstalled, and signed in, logged out of Ubuntu and back in, and it works :-). Thank you!
BTW: When I try to sign into Chromium I could not see my keystrokes when entering my username (was the same the previous 2 times). I hit a lot of keys (<tab>, <esc>), and finally I was able to enter my username...
