Your suggestion, that the files were copied to a sub-folder is correct. I must have been unaware that I was in a sub-folder when I created the migration folder I mentioned.
The friend here is actually my cousin George, and I named the migration folder "George". I found the folder using the find command in conjunction with grep: find /media/DriveName/ |grep George BTW, George loves Ubuntu; I put it on his laptop and it works flawlessly. So now I'm putting it on his PC. Now his wife wants it on her laptop!
