Your suggestion, that the files were copied to a sub-folder is correct.
I must have been unaware that I was in a sub-folder when I created the
migration folder I mentioned.

The friend here is actually my cousin George, and I named the migration
folder "George". I found the folder using the find command in
conjunction with grep:

find /media/DriveName/ |grep George

BTW, George loves Ubuntu; I put it on his laptop and it works
flawlessly. So now I'm putting it on his PC. Now his wife wants it on
her laptop! Seems it's time to teach George how to install Ubuntu
himself ;)
