Public bug reported:

It used to be easy to add a PPA to the Other Software tab in Synaptic,

Click on "Add", a window comes up, cut/n/paste the APT line from the
website's page that holds the PPA info, and click on "Add Source".
Done. (possibly also fix a key problem...)

Now, when one clicks on "New" (after selecting Setting-->Repositories),
one is confronted by three boxes: "URI", "Distribution", and "Section(s)".

When I wished to add mkusb, which was not in the Ubuntu repositories (for
Lubuntu Next)
I tried to figure out what to put in these boxes - and failed miserably.

In previous versions of Synaptic, I would just have entered "deb
http://ppa.launchpad.net/mkusb/ppa/ubuntu bionic main " into the field
provided (I THINK that merely entering "ppa:mkusb/ppa" was enough,
actually...)

Now, I have to go to a terminal and enter:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mkusb/ppa
sudo apt-get update
come back to Synaptic (assuming that I hadn't needed to shut it down, first...
I forget...)
and click the refresh button, before I can select the package(s) desired...

Why, when it was so simple and easy before, would the process have been
changed to make it difficult/non-obvious to manage through Synaptic...?
