Public bug reported:
installation of vmware tools appears to be failing, there is no status info and
the system seems to be calculating
but after 5 mins, vmware tools has still not installed....installation failure
running 7.10..
this issue seems to be of fair importance as, many users at this end try to
evaluate ubuntu as a virtual machine
