Public bug reported:
problem:
eclipse (installed via the Oomph) does not launch on 12.5.2018, meaning that a
couple second after clicking on the programme icon, and seeing the eclipse
small start-up window, the programme aborts its launch with an error message
(the message suggests looking at a hidden file that does not exist, "...
eclipse-workspace/.metadata/.log.")
I had run eclipse on 11.5.2018; while it was up, Ubuntu 18.4 installed
an update; this might have been up to a week old as I had not used the
computer since. SO this was the first time I run eclipse after the
update;
solution
- I noticed that the eclipse.ini vm pointed to a openjdk java 11 version
- I installed Oracle java 10
- I changed the eclipse.ini to vm it
eclipse works after this change; I have tried no other vm
should you need more tests, please let me know
