I have just tested that this works for me, on i386, running gutsy.
What architecture are you running one?
Can you find the file that the package downloaded and run md5sum on it?
If you can, that would help us to verify that we both download the same
file. My checksum is as follows:
821cc72359a937caef85bb4cc74ef5cd /var/cache/flashplugin-
nonfree/install_flash_player_9_linux.tar.gz
If the files differ, one possibility is that you have a caching proxy
that has the wrong version of the file. But that is just a guess.
