I confirm that this is fixed on my laptop in mainline kernel 4.16.9 (not 4.6.19), obtained from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/v4.16.9/ . These days there are 4 debs to install.
Good! The next question is how long it will take to get into bionic with a proper ubuntu kernel.
