Public bug reported:

Well, I'm not really sure this is a bug. Could be some dependancies
problem, but I could not figure out by myself.

This is what I get at the command line:
me@myMachine:~$ sudo gsmartcontrol
[sudo] password for me:
gsmartcontrol: symbol lookup error: gsmartcontrol: undefined symbol:
_ZN4Glib7ustringaSERKNSt7__cxx1112basic_stringIcSt11char_traitsIcESaIcEEE

Something similar if I try to run gparted:
me@myMachine:~$ sudo gparted
[sudo] password for me:
======================
libparted : 3.2
======================
/usr/sbin/gpartedbin: symbol lookup error: /usr/sbin/gpartedbin: undefined
symbol:
_ZN4Glib20find_program_in_pathERKNSt7__cxx1112basic_stringIcSt11char_traitsIcESaIcEEE

When I start gparted I get the unity bar populated by my partitions.
Last package I installed which could be related to gparted was ntfs-3g
