Public bug reported:

I have a dual screen display (and I use the terms screen and display in
accordance with X11 nomenclature). That is I have to monitors and their
DISPLAYs are :0.0 and :0.1.

When I use the 3d eye-candy (i.e. Desktop Effects) I only get Xgl on
:0.0 which is mapped to :1. As I understand it, Xgl does not support
multiple screens. I have seen hacks around to start an Xgl on each
screen (so that you end up with :1 on one monitor and :2 on the other).
There are several issues with this:

1. Ubuntu gutsy does not seem to arrange for this to happen. It's Xsession
startup thread of scripts seems to only address :0.0 and ignores :0.1.
2. But even given dual Xgls (:1 and :2), gnome will not work on multiple
displays the same way it will work on multiple screens (i.e. separate and
distinct taskbars for each screen).

This all makes dual-head setups quite limited with Desktop Effects.
