It is well known the squirrelmail with PHP 5 triggers various
deprecation messages. See

For some time, the Ubuntu Squirrelmail package did not issue these
messages, but the current squirrelmail:all
2:1.4.23~svn20120406-2+deb8u2ubuntu0.16.04.3 is once again issuing
messages like
