Public bug reported: According to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pgpool2/+publishinghistory pgpool2 is not longer available for Ubuntu 18.04
I asked it on Answers and got a suggestion to open a bug for 18.04 https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pgpool2/+question/669806 Not having pgpool means we can't use Postgresl in real production setup (with high availability, failover and load balancing). There are other solutions but they are not so feature-rich like pgpool2. As 18.04 is LTS version, it means for real production we should either roll back to 16.04 (which has quite old Postgres) or switch to another distribution which supports pgpool2. Manual installation is possible but not really an option for production system as we also need security updates. Please add pgpool2 back to Ubuntu 18.04. We don't use Java on postgresql servers, not sure why Java issue should affect Postgresl. ** Affects: pgpool2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1774429 Title: Unable to install pgpool2 in Ubuntu 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pgpool2/+bug/1774429/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
