I'm having issues getting the mainline kernel installed on my 16.04
install. The mainline .deb package looks like it depends on having
openssl 1.1 or greater installed through dpkg (which isn't possible on
16.04 as the release for openssl 1.1 is only on 18.04).

I've compiled and installed openssl 1.1.0h and am still receiving the
dependency error when installing the mainline kernel.

Is there any way to troubleshoot this issue while using a newer kernel
from the ubuntu repositories? Or do they have too similar of a code
base?
