I've been experiencing the same problem since friday on a Dell XPS 9560 laptop on Bionic. I created a different user account to test and laptop doesn't suspend, but if I switch that user to a Mate Desktop session it works fine.
These are the relevant lines on my logind.conf file: ~ cat /etc/systemd/logind.conf |grep -i lid HandleLidSwitch=ignore #HandleLidSwitchDocked=ignore #LidSwitchIgnoreInhibited=yes Curiously, I can see this config file was changed last (presumably due to an update?) just last friday june the 8th, which is perhaps too much of a coincidence: /etc/systemd ~ ll total 36K -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.1K Apr 2 20:25 journald.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1017 Jun 8 13:33 logind.conf drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4.0K Oct 4 2017 network -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 601 Apr 12 12:12 resolved.conf drwxr-xr-x 21 root root 4.0K Jun 11 08:18 system -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.7K Apr 2 20:25 system.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 604 Apr 2 20:25 timesyncd.conf drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4.0K May 10 15:52 user -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.2K Jul 12 2017 user.conf This happens on: * Ubuntu gnome session * Vanilla gnome session * Unity 7 session Suspend on lid closed works correctly on * Mate session I do not mix DE's on the same user, always create a new one to use with it to avoid home folder pollution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1776113 Title: Laptop does not suspend when lid is closed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-signed/+bug/1776113/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
