Public bug reported:

After installing Gutsy on a PC with an Asus M2N-E SLI motherborad sound from
obnboard c-media chip is too low. Volume is not muted and is set to high.
Tried installing an AudigyLS sound card but did not help, so I went back
to trying make onboard sound output.
So far have gone several sound debugging
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSoundProblems
and re-installed alsa drivers 1.0.14 and 1.0.15.

see attached file for detailed output from commands.

Thanks
