Public bug reported:
trying to install Lubuntu SD drive (/dev/mmcblk3p1). This is the 2nd time
install failed.
The internal solid state drive (/dev/mmcblk1) has 4 pre-installed partitions.
The first partition is 100MB and labeled EFI System. The desktop version of
Lubunto seems to work okay but I think that's because I added the file
bootia32.efi into /EFI/BOOT. Before I added the efi file to that directory any
attempt to boot lubuntu into desktop mode (try first) froze the system with no
error message.
If I first start in desktop mode I can get the install onto the SD card
to finish but it still doesn't boot into lubuntu (grub resets the system
over and over). I suspect this is because the efi file. I will try to
do that myself but I'm learning EFI shells on the fly.
If I'm right this issue is a result of the manufacturer intentionally
running a 32 bit UEFI firmware to a 64 bit system to thwart linux
installations.
