So, I downloaded the source, and compiled it, I made sure to include
snd-hda-intel.  I added acpi_osi=!Linux as a boot paramater.

And Voila!!, still no sound.  In Ubuntu's defense though, I had never
compiled a kernel before, but I think I did everything right.

I'm still stumped, anyone have any other ideas.
