Thanks for getting back on this; I wasn't expecting to hear anything
back after the first year passed, let alone six!

For the other two users who confirmed this issue; six years ago I
switched to linux mint 14 and did not see the issue there, even though
it was also based on ubuntu 12.10.

If this bug is interesting to track down, the difference is somewhere in
how those two distributions install.

Six years old and not relevant any more may just mean close it :-)
