Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu 
better. 
 
It wouldn't be appropriate to blindly land a patch without first understanding 
what exactly we're fixing, how the problem was resolved upstream, and so forth.

So please could you turn this into a full bug report, with steps to
reproduce, an explanation of the problem, etc, as well as just the
patch?

I don't see any reference to the patch having been applied upstream, nor
even any reply to the thread that you linked. Did upstream resolve the
problem? Can you point to upstream landing a fix?

Once answers to these questions are available in this bug, please set
the bug status back to New. Thanks!
