I have exactly this issue with the ushare package on Ubuntu 18.04 (well
Mint 19 actually, which is based on 18.04).

The reason is the package installs /etc/init.d/ushare, and that file
contains:

# Get lsb functions
. /lib/lsb/init-functions
. /etc/default/rcS

and the file /etc/default/rcS does not exist. Commenting that last line
and the daemon starts just fine. Not sure of the status of this file and
assumption about it's existence in Ubuntu 18.04 or Mint 19. Just
reporting the experience.
