I am running 4.15.0-24-generic on a Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th Gen with the same specs, and I am also not able to connect to Dell Montiors at all. I work at home with a Hyundai (Hitachi) Monitor and it works pretty well, but on Dell U2415 (and another older Dell model) it does not work. The display won't get a signal (and xrandr does say no connection).
I tried 2 different HDMI cables on both montiors and with an adapter from HDMI to usb-c/display port. No luck.
