Public bug reported:

network-manager-applet should clearly indicate if the network card's
kill switch is preventing it from connecting to the network.

this information is normally available via iwconfig, but should be
prominently displayed by the network-manager-applet (e.g. by displaying
"locked by hardware" where normally the wlans are listed)

this is especially important on devices which have kill switches that
are easily triggered, but don't display clearly whether they are on or
off (acer travelmate 8100, for example)

** Affects: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
