I have been attempting to install Ubuntu on my Dell Laptop without
success.
I have tried releases 6.06 thru 7.10 of Ubuntu
Kubuntu 7.10, and Xbuntu 7.10
After initial start of booting the disk there is a prompt that reads:
LOADING/Casper/initrd.gz........................
Loading Please Wait
At this time the CD drive works for several seconds, a screen of
vertical lines of varying widths and colors is displayed............and
thats it.
the machine is a Dell Inspiron 2600
1200Mhz celeron processor
256K RAM
Bios ver A11
Intel 830M Graphics controller
Am at a loss what to do next
