Thanks Daniel for looking into this! Here is how I came into this bug: I installed 18.04 from scratch a day after it got released.
Twice per day I close the lid of my laptop and open it again after. Usually it immediately asks me for the password and brings me back to what I was doing. But 30% of the time, it takes a long time (like a minute) before showing me... not a password prompt, but instead, a login screen (like if I had not yet a session) asking me to choose my user (there is only one user), then enter my password. It then starts to load... and asks me for my password AGAIN. Then it shows my desktop, but everything I was doing before is gone, no more open windows. All of my virtual machines in "Aborted" state. When I start Firefox it asks me whether I want to restore my tabs. When I open Byobu it shows my tabs as I left them (Byobu is designed to survive GUI crashes). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1772362 Title: Xorg crashed with SIGBUS in ErrorFSigSafe().
