Daniel, I am fairly literate and I am an IT professional by trade (Cisco Voice), however I am not a desktop specialist and especially not a Linux specialist. I am very willing to learn and do all I can to help resolve this issue but I would not know how to tell which kernel I am currently running nor how to select and install one from that massive list you provided. I do so appreciate your help and I hope it continues to be extended to a willing novice.
