Binary package hint: gnome-app-install
On a fresh install, I tried to play a .flv file with totem. It asked me
to download ffmpeg, downloaded it, asked me to download gstreamer-
plugins-ugly (I think), and then failed, saying that it could not get
all the necessary codecs. I installed ubuntu-restricted-extras and
tried loading the flv again and it worked file.
