Public bug reported:
0.7.1 do show country flags in drop down menu.
0.8.1 do not.
xubuntu18 comes with 0.8.1 as default one.
i've downgrade xkb to 0.7.1 to have good-old behavior.
Attached 2 snapshots of working 0.7.1 and not-working 0.8.1
