Public bug reported:

Maybe this bug is the same shown in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/+bug/1731459 ...

I've 2 Canon Lide 100 scanners. Both works well with ubuntu 16.04.
Running them on ubuntu 18.04 it first shows a black bar across the scanned page,
after some updates (apt-get update) it currently shows white and orange bars.

Booting my system with the old installed 16.04 both scanners works well,
running 18.04 both scanners show the black/white/orange-bar effect.

Reading at bug-report 1731459 that this is fixed in 1.0.27 original, I
downloaded
the daily-tar-gz from
http://www.sane-project.org/snapshots/sane-backends-git20180806.tar.gz,
compile and replace the
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane/libsane-genesys.so.1.0.27.

Unfortunately it does not work as describe. Removing this lib, simple-scan
could not find
the scanner, so i think a replaced the right one.

This bug is now nearly 9 month old and reported, please Canonical could
you fix this !

/chris
