Public bug reported:
Description: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Release: 18.04
Installing Ubuntu onto a fresh installation from a Live CD. Prior to
initiating the installation:
1. Create a gpt partition table (thereby clearing the entire disk)
2. Create a FAT32 partition for EFI System Partition
3. Create a LUKS partition, which includes:
— partition for root
— partition for /boot
After installing Ubuntu, the installation fails with this error message.
I have tried this on various systems, including (but not limited to):
• Ubuntu 16.04
• Lubuntu 16.04
• Xubuntu 16.04
• Kubuntu 16.04
• Mint 16.04
• Ubuntu 18.04
• Lubuntu 18.04
All 64-bit and all using UEFI.
It is possible to complete the installation by manually fixing Grub; in
other words, everything else is correctly installed.
