** Attachment added: "Antialiasing off entirely" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10263265/kochi-gothic-antialias-off.png
** Description changed: Problem: - Kochi Gothic and Kochi Mincho fonts render poorly (sometimes missing entire glyphs) when subpixel smoothing is enabled. - Kochi Gothic and Kochi Mincho are high up on the default fonts preference list (this may be locale dependent, I'm not sure), so CJK websites will render with missing glyphs. Details - Stock Gutsy install from scratch - Autohinter off as per default (problem is alleviated with autohinter on, but autohinter makes fonts look ugly IMO) - en_US.UTF8 locale Steps to reproduce - Select Kochi Gothic font (also affects Kochi Mincho) - Toggle subpixel smoothing on/off - Read/write CJK text - I'll attach screenshots when I can find the attachment button. + I'm under the impression that subpixel smoothing has been changed in + Gutsy (compared to Feisty). I do not recall if this bug affected Feisty. -- kochi fonts poor subpixel rendering https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/159845 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
