Public bug reported: I have apache and mysql freshly installed on ubuntu 16.04.
http://127.0.0.1 shows Apache's "It works" page. I installed phpmyadmin with "sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin". I even got a prompt that asked me whether I'm using Apache or Nginx as a web server and I chose Apache. Expected: EITHER it should work out of the box at http://127.0.0.1/phpmyadmin, OR at the end of the installation, there should be a message telling me what to do (e.g. edit some Apache config file) to completely enable phpmyadmin in Apache. Observed: None of those happened. It does not work out of the box and it didn't give me a fucking clue of what I am supposed to do. I'm pretty sure I just need to 1. create a file under /etc/apache2/conf-available with a line in it include'ing /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf (which the package installer should have done for me) 2. enable it (which the package installer should either have done for me or told me I need to) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: phpmyadmin 4:4.5.4.1-2ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-133.159-generic 4.4.134 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-133-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_uvm nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.18 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Wed Aug 15 17:18:55 2018 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-10-11 (1768 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Release amd64 (20130424) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: phpmyadmin UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: phpmyadmin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug third-party-packages xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1787233 Title: phpmyadmin installation doesn't configure apache out of the box To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/phpmyadmin/+bug/1787233/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
