Public bug reported:

Hello everyone,

I have 3 totaly different machines affected here.

First : AMD processor Nvidia Graphics card and nvidia-390
Second : Laptop Intel / Nvidia with nvidia-driver-396
Third : AMD Ryzen 7 2700X + nvidia-driver-390

On each one, this happened at least one time :
Working with many windows, then try to open a browsing window (a "save as"
Screenshot of an example that crashed last time as attachment) then → black
screen.

Sometimes, just CTRL + ALT+ 1 then CTRL + ALT + 2 and wait... fixes itself.
Most of the time, still black.

if CTRL+ALT+3 → log in → killall nautilus, firefox and people involved... 50%
chances it stays blocked.
If you try a sudo service gdm restart, you can log in again then .... black
screen !

You have to reboot.
