Public bug reported:

There is a problem with vega graphics in the 4.15 kernel used with
ubuntu 18.04

On my system sometimes the graphics work without problems. Other times i
get textual information from booting. Or i get a black screen. Or the
booting progress dots just keep on going. Or i boot to the desktop and
half of the screen has an area that is not rendered correctly.

I tried the mainline kernel of 4.16 4.17 and 4.18 and these kernels
don't have this bug. (However they give problems with my wifi).

Can the fixes in the newer kernels be backported to ubuntu 18.04 ?
