iproute2 is pulled by ubuntu-minimal so it's installed almost everywhere. Depending on iproute2 should thus be almost free in terms of footprint. That's specifically why I suggest to use ss :) The Bionic debdiff looked good to me as well. This will surely payoff to reduce the amount of invalid bugs so thanks!
